How to get to Gombe Stream National Park, Transport, bus and Car Hire Tanzania.
Gombe National Park is well known for chimpanzee tracking, Birding and other primates like Monkeys.
Accessing Gombe national Park in Tanzania is impossible on road but can be accessed by Air or by Boat Cruise.
Gombe National Park is not accessed by Road due to the fact that it’s located in the rift valley, and the park can only be accessed by Water Transport as explained below.
The nearest town to Gombe national park is Kigoma, the remote areas near the park and it has an airstrip, Travelers from Arusha, Nyerere Airport can take a domestic flight to Kigoma airstrip from where they will take a 10 minutes boat to reach the lodge and enter the national park.
While travellers can select to visit Gombe national Park starting from Burundi and take one hour drive from Burundi capital city and transfer to Kigoma from Burundi side, this may take you 40 minutes to clear the customs and later take 20 minutes’ drive to access the park by Boat.
